500,000 visitors per year, who is the biggest cinema in Albania?

Statistics show that everywhere in the world, cinema attendance is on the rise. Countries like Turkey, France, Finland, Germany, Poland, and others, record the highest numbers of movie followers. The same trend is pursued here in Albania, where cinema is now the most favorite place to spend free time. This approach is best represented by Cineplexx Albania, which welcomes more than 30,000 visitors per month to its halls at TEG and QTU. But why is this trend among Albanians? Is it about integrating with world cinemas or is it because of their lifestyle?

Cinema seems to be one of the best ways to spend free time, at Cineplexx at TEG and QTU, in only one year welcomes around 500,000 visitors. Presuming guests are unique cinema visitors, Cineplexx Albania is frequented by over half of Tirana’s population.

Cineplexx is a multiplex cinema, with several modern halls where different films are screened simultaneously. With a maximum capacity of 1,000 seats, Cineplexx at TEG and QTU welcomes around 1,000 clients together, to experience the best image display experience through RealD 3D transmission technology. The halls of Cineplexx are equipped with the newest Barco Phosphor Laser projectors, not alike any other cinema in the country. Laser projectors are a technological development that enables even higher image quality than traditional design. These types of projectors are many times more efficient and save almost 50% energy.

Popcorn and Nachos are definitely the most popular products because they carry the Cineplexx recipe and are imported in our country specifically for this cinema. Being part of both TEG and QTU shopping centers, Cineplexx customers also benefit from amenities such as easy-to-access parking, car wash, childcare areas, recreational games for different age groups, fast shopping, aesthetic and beauty treatments, etc.

2019 was the year of the most internationally acclaimed films, which was an extra reason for Albanians to attend cinemas. Cineplexx made sure to show these movies first in the halls of TEG and QTU. We can here mention: Avengers Endgame, The Lion King, Aladdin, Fast & Furious Presents Hobbs & Shaw, The Upside, Joker, Aquaman, etc. These films are welcomed and still welcome counters at the Cineplexx in TEG and QTU by a record number of cinema lovers and well-disposed to specialize in cinema experience. Not only did international cinematography receive a lot of attention, but also an Albanian production such as “2 Fingers of Honey”, which brought a large number of Cineplexx fans to all of its shows. The high interest in this film was noticed in its pre-premiere, and this trend continued until the final dates. The movie has broken all expectations and hit a record of 59,000 tickets. On the other hand, Cineplexx ensures that in addition to the latest films shown in high quality images, they also bring themed events to their premieres, to convey a fun experience to customers, more than just a cinema visit. “Ladies Night”, “Men’s Night”, “Superheroes Night”, “Premiere” and “Family Day” are some of the themes tailored to each client’s typology, offering food, drinks, music and often gifts for everyone. For the most special movie events, personalized character menus are another feature of cinema in Albania, especially Cineplexx, which is becoming more and more popular.

The beauty of cinema in Albania is its diverse program, like everywhere else in the world. Currently at Cineplexx-TEG and Cineplexx-QTU more than 10 films are screened daily with over 30 performances over the weekend and over 25 performances during the week. October-December is considered a high season for cinema, with important movie titles expected to appear in theaters, such as: “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil”, “Ford V Ferrari”, “Frozen II”, “Jumanji: Next Level ”and“ Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker ” as well as some Albanian productions such as ‘Falco’ (Bes Kallaku’s new film); “Triumph,” the documentary about the national team and “Love” – a comedy-romance on the holidays eve.
