Job position: Compensation & Benefits Specialist

Department: Human Resources

Location: Back Office.

Summary:  A Compensation and Benefit Specialist typically manages and oversees all aspects of a company’s payroll, bonus schemes, and develops and implements benefits packages for the employees.

 Main Responsibilities:

  • Manages and correctly implements the company’s payroll by designing systems; by writing and updating policies and procedures directing the collection, calculation, and entering data in compliance with the legal framework.
  • Prepares reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and non-taxable wages.
  • Implements and administers a competitive employee benefits program. Effectively communicate the value of the extensive benefits to employees as a part of their total compensation.
  • Achieves financial objectives by anticipating requirements; submitting information for budget preparation; scheduling expenditures; monitoring costs; analyzing variances.
  • Controls the cost of Labor and assume full responsibility for the execution of the relevant budget lines.
  • Develops and monitors the necessary HR Metrics to measure the progress of the HR activities under his/her responsibility.
  • Calculating the correct amount incorporating overtime, deductions, bonuses etc.
  • Ensure that compensation practices are in compliance with current legislation (pay equity, human rights, etc.)
  • Participate in salary and labor market surveys to determine prevailing pay rates and benefits


Requirements and Skills 

  • University degree, preferably business/economics, accounting and Finance, HR management or other related fields.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience working as Payroll Specialist. Preferably in Retail industry.
  • Good analytical skills and, experience with quantitative data collection
  • Strong communication skills verbal and nonverbal
  • Strong analytical skills with quantitative data collection and detailed-oriented
  • Practical experience in the field of compensations and benefits advantageous
  • Knowledge about different options of compensation and ways to motivate people
  • Meticulous, self-motivated with a strong desire to succeed.
  • Positive attitude, open minded and ready to embrace change.
  • Very good English skills (verbal and written).
