Job Position: Legal and Compliance Officer

Overview of the Role
The Legal and Compliance Officer will be responsible for overseeing the legal, regulatory, and compliance functions of the organization.
This role ensures that the company operates in full compliance with all relevant laws and regulations related to banking and financial activities, professional and ethical standards and practices, market and financial security regulations (AML/CFT), GDPR regulations, procedures and manuals applied internally by the company as well as group standards, while mitigating legal risks. The Legal and Compliance officer will also lead corporate governance efforts and provide strategic legal advice to the executive team.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop and implement compliance policies and procedures to ensure adherence to financial regulations (e.g., AML, KYC, GDPR, PCI-DSS, and other fintech-related laws).
- Monitor and interpret changes in regulatory frameworks affecting fintech operations, including digital payments, lending, and financial services.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies, government agencies, and financial authorities to ensure compliance and manage audits.
- Lead the internal compliance function, conducting regular risk assessments and compliance audits.
- Oversee reporting and filings to relevant financial and regulatory authorities.
- Assess, review and approve companies’ legal contracts towards 3rd parties.
Competencies and Requirements
- Proactive with a proven ability to deliver value-added support to business in a dependable, timely and accurate manner;
- Strong report writing skills to synthesize executive summaries, briefs and/or reports;
- Strong understanding of the law and regulatory requirements related to the financial industry;
- Ability to organize work, prioritize tasks and handle multiple assignments simultaneously;
- Excellent understanding of corporate governance and anti-financial crime;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities;
- Analytical and problem-solving mindset;
- Experienced in collaborating with various stakeholders.
- Strong sense of responsibility;
- Proficiency in both spoken and written of Albanian and English language;
- 7+ years in banking system and a minimum of 3 years in managerial job positions;
- Master Degree in Finance, Business Management or related field.
