JUMBO expands in the fourth state in the Balkans, the first opens in Montenegro

On Friday, Podgorica became the next city to host the newest JUMBO store, run by Albanian company Kid Zone, which is the brand’s first launch in Montenegro.

Through a festive atmosphere in the presence of the Minister of Economy, Dragica Sekulic, the JUMBO shop was inaugurated, with an area of 2500 m2 and over 50 new employees dedicated to providing a variety of products from all categories.

The number of visitors in the early days has been very high and the media has also shown interest in following up this Balfin Group investment in Montenegro.

In his statement, JUMBO Executive Director, Toljan Papajorgji, in the face of widespread media presence, thanked Montenegrin institutions for their support, and ensured that through the Balfin Group, JUMBO would not stop on the path of expansion in this country.

Jumbo, under the name of Kid Zone, first opened in November 2011 at the largest shopping mall in Albania, at TEG, and a year later, on November 27, 2012 at QTU.

Seeing the great success of retail chain stores in Greece, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Romania, etc., Jumbo came as a demand of the Albanian market and as such was immediately embraced by the local market.

Jumbo’s strongest point, what makes it different from other providers in the market is the variety of different category products, as Jumbo is for the whole family. The wide range of products, quality and economical prices has made it the market leader in the category of children’s toys and more.

In more detail, at JUMBO can be found products from children’s toys and sports items, to gardening, clothing, textiles and décor, cleaning and kitchen accessories, cure accessories, baby products, car, office and school accessories , as well as party and pet supplies.

But Kid Zone (Jumbo) didn’t just stop in Albania, and today, after 8 years, it operates in 4 different markets in the Balkan region, with about 700 employees and 16 large stores. It has an ambitious expansion plan, in which it is expected to make its debut in other regional markets and beyond, and significantly increase the number of employees, bringing it to about 900.

In Albania alone, the company has 5 stores and 230 employees.

Recent openings in Albania have been in cities of: Fier, on April 27, 2018, Shkodra, June 8, 2018 and Durres on August 17, 2018, while it is anticipated to open three new stores in cities such as: Elbasan, Korça and Vlora. With these openings, the number of employees in Albania will reach over 300.

Meanwhile in Kosovo the company has 6 stores and 216 employees, while within 2019 it will open the 7th store in the country, in Peja, bringing the total number of employees to 250.

There are 4 stores in Bosnia with about 165 employees and the last store opened in Cazin, in May 2019.

The next Jumbo innovation will be investing in a new market, beyond the Balkan region, specifically in Moldova.
