A SHIFT of perception at Gallery Of Contemporary Art Tirana

This Wednesday, the Gallery of Contemporary Art Tirana became the stage for a compelling artistic encounter with the opening of SHIFT, the first solo exhibition in Albania by Shuk Orani, curated by Elton Koritari.

More than an exhibition, SHIFT unfolds as an experience, a passage between what is visible and what resists being seen, between the certainty of systems and the unpredictability of human instinct.

“I’m very happy that I am finally presenting in Albania,” said Shuk Orani at the opening. “The idea came earlier, but now the moment has arrived and we’ve made it happen. I would like to thank the Gallery of Contemporary Art Tirana, the MANE Foundation, and all collaborators.”

Born in Prishtina and based in Germany, Orani presents monumental abstract works rooted in post-war European painting, now placed in dialogue with artificial intelligence, an avatar of the artist himself that observes, responds, and reflects his process.

As Director Ena Bulku noted:
“SHIFT brings the innovation of artificial intelligence into the service of art and creativity. Here, AI becomes an avatar of the artist’s self-portrait, one that may even debate with itself.”

The exhibition moves through contrasting environments, from clarity and full visibility to darkness and fragmentation, inviting visitors to actively construct meaning and engage with uncertainty.

Curated by Elton Koritari, SHIFT ultimately reflects on what remains irreducibly human in the age of machine learning.

The exhibition is open to the public with free entry until May 3, 2026, at the Gallery of Contemporary Art Tirana.
