Edlira Muka, CEO of Balfin Group, elected Vice President of AmCham Albania

On October 15th, American Chamber of Commerce’s members, through the online voting system, elected Edlira Muka, CEO of Balfin Group, as Board Vice President of the organization. Finance and Economy Minister Anila Denaj, U.S. Ambassador Yuri Kim, AmCham members and representatives of American, international and Albanian businesses attended the meeting.

AmCham in Albania President Enio Jaço spoke about the Chamber’s achievements during its 20 years and presented a summary of AmCham’s work in the past year. President Jaço stressed the important role AmCham has played over the years in protecting the rights of the business community. AmCham President Jaço said the recent Albania-U.S. Economic Agreement was historic, describing it as “a turning point in relation to American investments in Albania.”

U.S. Ambassador to Albania Yuri Kim praised the role of the American Chamber of Commerce in Albania in supporting the improvement of the business climate and stressed the importance of strengthening the rule of law in order to attract as much foreign investment as possible.

In her remarks, Minister Denaj expressed support for the representatives of American businesses as well as the commitment of the Albanian Government to create a more favorable climate for foreign and domestic investors.

Newly elected AmCham in Albania Vice President, Ms. Muka, addressed the General Assembly stating her future vision: “Improving the business climate and preparing for the challenges of a global market in the near future are two directions where I feel we need to focus more and where I can offer my contribution to all AmCham members”.

The American Chamber of Commerce in Albania is a private, not-for-profit business promotion and development organization. Through its work and services, AmCham Albania seeks to build a better business climate, and to be the leading representative for U.S. and international business in Albania. Since its establishment in September 2000, the Chamber has worked to increase trade between the United States and Albania, to promote foreign investment in Albania, and improve the Albanian business image in U.S. and international markets. AmCham’s membership has grown steadily over the past decade, and now totals 220 active members representing the most productive and successful businesses operating in Albania.
