Overview
The Category Manager plays a key role in developing and implementing category strategies throughout the entire product life cycle, from assortment selection, pricing, and supplier negotiations to performance tracking and stock planning. Your ultimate goal will be to drive sales growth, profitability, and market share while ensuring optimal stock turnover and product availability in line with the company’s strategy.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyze market trends, competitors, and consumer behavior to identify opportunities for category growth.
- Select and define an optimal product assortment aligned with company goals and market demand.
- Negotiate with suppliers on pricing, rebates, bonuses, and commercial terms to secure the most competitive offers.
- Develop and implement pricing and promotional strategies for the category.
- Monitor product display, merchandising standards, and the effectiveness of promotional activities.
- Collaborate closely with the marketing and retail teams to design and execute campaigns that boost sales.
- Plan and monitor the annual category budget, analyzing performance indicators (margin, stock turnover, availability).
- Prepare regular reports on category sales, profitability, and improvement recommendations.
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with suppliers, ensuring continuous partnership development.
- Contribute actively to company growth strategies through category innovation and customer experience improvement.
Competencies and Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in category management, procurement, or retail (experience in consumer electronics or FMCG is a plus).
- University degree in Economics, Management, Marketing, or Finance.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and presentation skills.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint).
- Strong command of English (knowledge of an additional foreign language is an advantage).
- Understanding of market trends, consumer habits, and basic financial indicators.
- High sense of ownership, responsibility, and results orientation.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage time effectively, and collaborate across teams.
