The 5th call of Balfin Innovation Summit received a record 300% more applications than the previous edition. BIS itself came upgraded and improved this year, to mirror what it stands for. The Transformation Department at BALFIN Group redesigned it for trailblazers and game-changers to revolutionize the future of BALFIN Group through both internal innovation and start-up proposals.
A recap of winners over the years
Balfin Innovation Summit constitutes one of BALFIN Group’s integral programs inspired by its core value, innovation, where employee-driven impact culminates in an event of novel ideas. The previous editions have seen the implementation of innovative projects in real estate, construction, and shopping malls.
Balfin Innovation Summit 2019: Mane TCI was announced by the Jury as the best and most innovative project of the very first edition, followed up by finalists Skopje East Gate and Neptun Albania. The novel project consisted of digitalization in construction. Using technology in everyday processes, the team projected increased optimization and staff efficiency.
Balfin Innovation Summit 2020: Although conducted in social distancing measures, the global pandemic did not halt BIS. This edition gathered numerous striking projects with only Albchrome, Balfin Real Estate and Hospitality, Fashion Group Albania, and Tirana Bank making it to the final round. The jury evaluated “Time Share & Vacation Exchange” by BRE&H as the most promising of all. This new concept of tourism leveraged Green Coast and international partnerships: exchanging estates with similar ones in the world, at no extra cost.
Balfin Innovation Summit 2021: Jumbo, Mane TCI, Neptun Albania, and Tirana Bank made it to BIS’ finale. Mane TCI was awarded for the second time as the company with the most innovative project. “Building Information Modeling” integrated structured, multi-disciplinary data to produce a digital representation of an asset across its lifecycle, from planning and design to construction and operations.
Balfin Innovation Summit 2022: The three innovative projects presented in the finale were from East Gate Mall in North Macedonia, Jumbo, and OnSolutions in Albania. The winning project, “Augmented Reality in East Gate Mall” aimed to enhance the consumer journey through cutting-edge technology. For the first time, a grand prize of €5,000 was awarded to the winners.
What the fifth edition of Balfin Innovation Summit has in store
The tradition that is BIS foresees exciting novelties this year. The bar gets higher every year with employees discovering new challenges and utilizing synergies between departments and companies. While we brace for the final event this September, the finalists will undergo tailored training to develop their project proposal through design thinking and A3 methodologies. In addition to the training, designated toolkits will assist them to prepare a well-rounded plan and presentation for the pitch of their internal innovation or start-up idea.
Since 2019, Balfin Innovation Summit has been the epitome of BALFIN Group’s innovation culture. The program has successfully turned into the common denominator of a tradition and one of BALFIN Group’s core values, innovation.
