The Vice President of Real Estate at BALFIN Group, Ardiana Sokoli, was a panelist at the International Conference Challenges in the Western Balkans: Infrastructure and Development in the Region, organized by Epoka University in Tirana. Professors of engineering profiles joined industry representatives, government institutions, and civil society organizations to share experiences, strategies, and scientific research findings.
The Global Engineering Deans Council (GEDC) and the International Federation of Engineering Education Societies (IFEES) were the strategic partners of the organizers. Their representatives informed the participants on the hot topics across Europe.
The Rector of Epoka University, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Öztaş, emphasized that the conference managed to bring international academics and companies to start a collaboration with Albanian universities and companies, to discuss the challenges in the Western Balkans, especially in infrastructure and economic development, and to suggest solutions related to the existing problems. As the head of the conference, he added that the two-day panels discussed infrastructure topics in the region and gave public messages.

Ardiana Sokoli, Vice President of BALFIN Group, addressed the opportunities that Albanian businesses have for the promotion of economic and social development in the Western Balkans. As an illustration, she presented the industry-relevant Group companies. She said that “partnership with the academic world comes naturally to BALFIN Group, following a bilateral communication for a contribution to the education system, as well as preparing students for the challenges of the labor market. The audience of the conference, with international academics and engineering companies, is the right one to show how BALFIN Group has overcome the challenges for infrastructural development in the region, but also to familiarize themselves with today’s international practices for sustainable solutions”.
The conference marked the first involvement in Albania of two international engineering organizations, with sessions where participants discussed issues of economic development in the region and presented their ideas for meeting the infrastructural needs encountered in the Western Balkans. With the development of real estate as one of its main activities, the exchange of experiences with industry experts constitutes a special focus for BALFIN Group.
