Life through images: ‘Prani’ by Ergys Zhabjaku opens at the Contemporary Art Gallery, Tirana

This Wednesday, the Contemporary Art Gallery in Tirana filled with light, voices, and the footsteps of numerous visitors. On its walls, “Prani”, the exhibition by photographer Ergys Zhabjaku, opened, a carefully curated project supported by the Mane Foundation.

From the very first moments, the opening became a meeting point for many worlds: artists, curators, cultural figures, students, and photography enthusiasts alike.

“Prani” is a quiet yet profound narrative. A wordless story where images carry the weight of a novel written in light. Zhabjaku’s photographs reveal a world where everyday life shines differently: pure, stripped down, more honest. Passersby become speaking silhouettes, shadows turn into memories, and every composition feels like a scene from a film never shot, yet strangely familiar to all.

In his speech, Zhabjaku spoke about human presence that we often overlook, moments that capture us unexpectedly, and the silent theater that plays every day on the streets. For him, black-and-white photography is not just a technical choice but a way to cleanse the world of excess noise, leaving only its essence.

“Prani” does not observe you from the outside: it takes you by the hand, and guides you toward the micro-stories that usually hide between a street, a sidewalk, or a fleeting glance. The gallery provides free access both to visitors and artists, as a contribution from the Mane Foundation to the artistic world and the art-loving public.

The support of the Mane Foundation made this visual experience possible, while the commitment of the Contemporary Art Gallery in Tirana offered the public a rare journey into the world of contemporary photography, opening a new window through which to view everyday life with fresh, attentive eyes.

The exhibition “Prani” will remain open to the public free of charge until December 7 at the Contemporary Art Gallery in Tirana. The gallery itself was founded by the foundation as part of Samir Mane’s personal commitment, and since its establishment, it has hosted numerous exhibitions reflecting continuity and dedication to contemporary art in Tirana.
