An unexpected episode occurred about two weeks ago when two children showed in a Spar supermarket in Tirana holding winning coupons in their hands. The fate had smiled at two youngsters who won a lap-top during SPAR Albania scratch-off coupons campaign
SPAR employees were deeply touched when they learned that the boys in question were part of a children’s orphanage.
For this reason, they engaged and decided that the fate that had smiled at the two little ones would not remain an isolated case, but extended even further to their peers, at the orphanage where they lived.
To please them and other children, SPAR arranged a visit last week at the “Fillimet e Reja” orphanage in Tirana, where 13 children aged 2 to 17 years old reside.
In addition to the lap-top that the kids won through the scratch-card promotional campaign, SPAR also provided them with various toys, food and personal hygiene products as well as basic school supplies.
SPAR’s plan is to continue helping this orphanage through the supplies provided from various suppliers.
In the framework of its social responsibility program, SPAR has so far supported many important activities in the country as World Vision Albania’s “Tungjatjeta”, “Fundjavë Ndryshe”, “Ti je një luledielli”, the municipality’s initiative Green City, Run 4 Autism, “SPAR donates knowledge”, “SPAR Donates Blood on Thalassemia Day”, etc.
SPAR’s latest charity initiative coincides with the company’s 2nd anniversary. SPAR Albania has seen in a significant growth in these two years. According to the specialized economic magazine Monitor, the company recognized a 65% increase compared to its first year of operation in the Albanian market.
SPAR now holds 23% of the market for the food retail industry. The company has employed around 520 people, while about 225 other employees are the staff of the SPAR’s affiliate in the form of “franchise” to its local partners in various cities of Albania.
SPAR Albania has created an ambitious expansion plan in Albania, which foresees the opening of 100 supermarkets and 10 hypermarkets, which will cover the entire territory of the country. Within the next month, SPAR is planning to open two new supermarkets in Tirana, while a third supermarket will open in Shkodra in December. This will lead the company’s network within 2018 to a total of 40 stores.
