The Green Coast beach in Palasa is now the first beach in Albania to receive the Blue Flag certification from the Foundation for Environmental Education. The iconic Blue Flag is one of the world’s most recognized voluntary awards for sustainable tourism beaches, marinas, and boats. To qualify for this prestigious certification, a series of stringent environmental, educational, safety, and accessibility criteria must be met and maintained.
At the heart of the ideals of the Blue Flag program, administrated by the Foundation for Environmental Education in Denmark, Copenhagen, is the aim to connect the public with their environment and encourage them to learn more about it.
Green Coast is a well-known coastal destination, whose crystal-clear water joins the map of the cleanest beaches of the globe certified by Blue Flag. Located in Palasa, one of the pearls of the Albanian Riviera, Green Coast is famous for the idyllic coastal experience it offers.
“It is the well-deserved appreciation of the tireless and visionary work of BALFIN Group, which once again made a difference and gave Albania an unprecedented impact in elite tourism,” said Ardiana Sokoli, BALFIN Group’s Real Estate Vice President on the Blue Flag that now identifies Albania on its map with Green Coast.
In order to deserve the Blue Flag certification, in addition to the fixed display of information related to the beaches in terms of biodiversity, ecosystem and environmental phenomena, activities on environmental education must be offered and promoted.

Green Coast has continuously supported educational activities of history, culture and the environment, such as the contribution to the creation of the “Cesar Trail”, or the running competition in mountainous terrain, as it has been for two years now “Green Coast Trail Running”, which gathers dozens of amateur and professional runners and athletes. As per the complex itself, in addition to the capillary investment for water treatment, an added value of Green Coast is the mobility within the resort with ecological buggies, supporting a sustainable lifestyle. As an active supporter of UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, BALFIN Group carefully reviews its impact in every field of activity, ensuring the preservation of resources.
