The second edition of “SDG Business Pioneers Award Ceremony,” organized by UNDP Albania and funded by SIDA, honored companies in Albania that incorporate Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into their work. BALFIN Group was recognized for its efforts in ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) practices and corporate social responsibility.
This year’s “SDG Business Pioneers Award Ceremony” highlighted businesses in Albania committed to sustainability and contributing to the SDGs, which promote dignified living and equal opportunities.
The event gathered high-ranking government officials, company executives, and stakeholders dedicated to creating positive impact, including environmental advocates and innovators committed to social and environmental issues.
Among approximately 70 participating companies from various sectors, BALFIN Group stood out in the large enterprise category for its initiatives, efforts, and leadership in sustainable practices, benefiting both business and community.
Fiona McCluney, the UN Resident Coordinator in Albania, stated during the ceremony:
“UN is proud to recognize enterprises in Albania that set meaningful examples by creating quality jobs, reducing environmental impact, and embedding sustainability into their core business practices. These visionary companies are not only addressing present challenges but are actively building a sustainable future for the businesses and communities they serve.”
The award presented to BALFIN Group marked the culmination of a rigorous assessment process, divided into several phases. This included data review, eligibility verification, external evaluation by a panel of national and international business experts, and an in-depth final assessment by field specialists.
