The home appliance market in Albania has undergone significant changes in recent years. In an interview for Monitor, Alexandros Kosenas, CEO of Neptun, explains how consumer demands and global trends are reshaping the way Albanians purchase and use household appliances.
Market Growth and Technology Adoption
“The market has grown and consolidated significantly,” Kosenas explains. “Consumers are more informed and increasingly looking for appliances that not only perform basic functions but also offer extra features and after-sales support. Smart technologies and energy efficiency are becoming the standard, not a luxury.”
The Benefits of Smart Technology
According to him, appliances integrated with IoT, artificial intelligence, and energy-monitoring options are transforming home management. “Refrigerators that manage inventory, washing machines that optimize cycles, and remote control via smartphones are already realities in Albania,” Kosenas emphasizes.
Prices and Global Impact
The Neptun CEO also explains that global energy and raw material costs directly affect supply and demand. “Consumers are increasingly aware of energy efficiency as a long-term way to cope with rising costs,” he notes.
Albanian Consumer Behavior
Kosenas points out that Albanians are investing more in quality than before. “Price remains important, but warranty, brand reputation, and energy efficiency are becoming key factors in decision-making. Appliances are now seen as long-term investments, not just temporary solutions.”

Shopping Seasons and Consumer Awareness
“Key seasons include summer, back-to-school, and promotional periods such as Black Friday and holidays,” Kosenas says. He adds that consumers rely on online research, social media, and user reviews to make informed decisions, focusing not only on technology features but also on convenience and after-sales service.
Energy Efficiency and Most Demanded Products
Kosenas highlights that energy efficiency has become a decisive factor for many households. “Refrigerators, washing machines, and air conditioners are the main products where consumers seek green technology. Appliances integrated with solar panels and heat-pump dryers are also gaining popularity,” he explains.
Most Underrated and Lifestyle-Changing Appliances
According to the Neptun CEO, dishwashers remain widely underrated, while smart washing machines have significantly transformed household routines. “Laundry has become a simplified and more convenient process for families with busy schedules,” Kosenas concludes.
