The Gallery of Contemporary Art Tirana (GOCAT), part of MANE Foundation, has opened “Body Under Construction”, the latest exhibition by Kosovar artist Albana Ejupi.
Through painting, sculpture, textiles, sand and text, the exhibition explores the body as a space shaped by memory, identity and lived experience, inviting visitors to reflect on transformation as a continuous human process.
At the center of the exhibition is a monumental 300-kilogram sculpture symbolizing the emotional weight people carry throughout life.

“Our bodies carry memories, disappointments, love, loss and stories that are often invisible on the surface. The sculpture’s weight is not only physical; it represents the emotional burden and experiences we all carry,” said Albana Ejupi.
Curated by philosopher and curator Shkëlzen Maliqi, the exhibition evolved from an initial retrospective concept into an entirely new body of work, placing the human body at the heart of its artistic narrative.
This is GOCAT’s 16th exhibition, continuing the gallery’s mission to present contemporary Albanian and international artists, including members of the Albanian diaspora, through a dynamic artistic programme.

According to Ena Bulku, Director of GOCAT, the exhibition reflects MANE Foundation’s ongoing commitment to supporting contemporary art and creating opportunities for cultural dialogue.
“Body Under Construction” will remain open to visitors until 30 August at the Gallery of Contemporary Art Tirana (GOCAT).
